KATHMANDU: After earning berth in the 2014 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, Nepali cricket team has landed at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) at 9 am on Wednesday .

They received a grand welcome from their supporters, and the officials flocked around in a numerous numbers to salute their players’ achievement of sealing the title of ICC World Cricket League Division-III champions with a five-wicket victory over Uganda in the final in Hamilton, Bermuda on Sunday

In order to mark the victory, the player are en-route to go around the valley to receive felicitations from their supporters and cricket lovers.Submit

According to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) they will pass by Gaushala, Ratopul, Maitidevi, Dillibazar, Putalisadak, Ratnapark and Sahid Gate.

After going round the valley they all the team members are scheduled to meet the Chairman of the Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi office at Singadurbar later this afternoon.

Also, the UCPN-Maoist have also organized a program to honour the players at the party headquarters at Paris Danda.

Likewise, National Sports Council Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama on Monday said the government will honour the national team cricketers with one million rupees each if they reach the 2015 World Cup.

“It is about giving respect to the athletes who make the nation proud. If Nepal reach the 2015 Cricket World Cup, we will reward each member of the team with one million rupees,” said the member secretary.

The NSC has already announced a cash prize of Rs 350,000 each to the members of the current national team that reached the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier by entering the final of the ICC World Cricket League Division-III in Bermuda.

Struggling even to retain their Division-III status after two successive defeats, Nepal won the last three matches of the ICC World Cricket League Division-III emphatically, including an eight-wicket win over Italy on Saturday.
