प्रदर्शनमा शनिबार राति १३ र आइतबार ६ जनाको ज्यान गएको हो । इस्लामी समर्थकले सत्तारूढ दलका कार्यकर्ताका घरमा आगजनी र सडक संघर्ष थालेपछि गोली प्रहार गरिएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ ।
यसमा आइतबार ६ जनाको मृत्यु भएको र तीमध्ये ४ को मृत्यु पतग्राममा भएको हो । सरकारी प्रवक्ता हबिबुर रहमानका अनुसार प्रदर्शनकारीले करिब २० घरमा आगो लगाइदिएका छन् । प्रधानमन्त्री शेख हसिना वाजेदले प्रदर्शनकारीमाथि कारबाहीको चेतावनी दिएकी छन् । कादरलाई गत बिहीबार मृत्युदण्ड दिइएको थियो ।
यसको विरोधमा जमात-ए-इस्लामीले आइतबार बंगलादेश बन्द आह्वान गरेको थियो । लालमानीरहत इलाकामा जमात-ए-इस्लामी समर्थक र सुरक्षा फौजबीच झडप भएको थियो ।
सोही झडपमा उनीहरूको मृत्यु भएको हो । बन्दकर्ताले सवारी साधनहरूमा आगजनीको प्रयास गर्दा प्रहरीले हस्तक्षेप गरेको थियो । त्यस क्रममा प्रदर्शनकारीले सरकारी भवन र प्रहरी इकाईहरूमा आगजनी गरेका थिए । आइतबार प्रदर्शनकारी र प्रहरीबीच गोली हानाहानसमेत भएको स्थानीय सञ्चारमाध्यमहरूले जनाएका छन् । बिहीबारयता भएका झडपमा १२ जनाले ज्यान गुमाइसकेका छन् ।
सन् १९७१ मा पाकिस्तानबाट स्वतन्त्रता पाउन भएको संघर्षका क्रममा मानवताविरोधी युद्ध अपराध गरेको अभियोगमा मुल्लाहलाई मृत्युदण्ड दिइएको हो । बंगलादेशको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय अपराध न्यायाधिकरणले मृत्युदण्डको सजाय सुनाएका ५ नेतामध्ये मुल्लाह पनि एक हुन् । १९७१ को मुक्ति संग्रामका क्रममा भएका अत्याचारहरू जाँचका लागि सन् २०१० मा उक्त न्यायाधिकरणको स्थापना भएको थियो । मुक्ति संग्रामका क्रममा ३० लाखले ज्यान गुमाएका थिए ।
यसैबीच, सत्तारूढ दलले आगामी निर्वाचनमा विजय हासिल गर्ने देखिएको छ । उम्मेदवारको नाम दर्ता शुक्रबार बन्द भएपछि निर्वाचन आयोगले ३ सय स्थानमध्ये १ सय ५४ स्थानमा एक उम्मेदवारको मात्र नाम दर्ता भएको र तीमध्ये १ सय २७ जना अवामी लिगका उम्मेदवार भएको जानकारी दिएको छ । अवामी लिगका सहयोगीहरूले अन्य सात स्थानमा एक मात्र उम्मेदवार उठाएका छन् भने अब सत्ताधारी गठबन्धनलाई बहुमत प्राप्त गर्न १७ स्थान मात्र भए पुग्ने देखिएको छ ।
प्रधानमन्त्री हसिनाले राजीनामा नदिएसम्म प्रतिपक्षी बंगलादेश नेसनलिस्ट पार्टी र उसका १७ सहयोगी दलले निर्वाचन बहिष्कार गर्ने बताएका छन् भने सत्ताधारी अवामी लिग भने निर्वाचन गराउने दृढतामा छ ।
जनवरी ५ मा हुने निर्वाचनका विषयमा विवाद समाधान गर्न सरकारलाई कडा अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय दबाब परेको छ । बीएनपीका उपाध्यक्ष समसेर मोबिन चौधरीले एक व्यक्तिको मात्र उम्मेदवारी पर्नुले निर्वाचनमा धाँधलीले नयाँ उचाइ लिएको देखाउने बताए ।

तर, इटलीमा हालै अदालतले ११ बर्षिय नावालिकासँग यौन सम्बन्ध राख्ने ६५ बर्षिय बृद्धलाई उन्मुक्ति दिएको छ । कारणमा भनिएको छ– ११ बर्षिय बालिका र ती बृद्धवीच प्रेम थियो ।
इटालियन समाचार संस्था टीभीसीकम २४ का अनुसार घटना दक्षिण शहर केटेनजारोको हो । बालिका गरीब परिवारकी हुन् र ६० वर्षीय व्यक्तिको स्याहारसुसारको काम गर्थिन । आरोपीत व्यक्ति शहरको समाजिक सेवा विभागमा कार्यरत छन् ।
समुन्द्र तटमा रहेका छापोहरुमा प्रहरीले छापा मार्ने क्रममा उनीहरु दुबैलाई बिछ्यौनामा भेटिएको थियो । नाबालिकसंग यौन सम्वन्ध राखेको भन्दै उनलाई प्रारिम्भक चरणमा ५ वर्षको जेल सजाय सुनाइएको थियो । इटलीमा सहमतिमा सेक्सका लागि १४ वर्ष पुगेको हुनुपर्छ । दुई मध्ये कोही एक अर्कामाथि अधिकार वा लालनपालको स्थिति छ भने १६ वर्षको हुनुपर्छ ।
तर, यो मुद्दामा अदालतले परिस्थितिको कारण देखाउँदै सजायँ रद्द गरेको छ । ११ वर्षीया युवतीले आफू र आरोपीबीच प्रेम रहेको बयान दिएको बताइएको छ । अदालतले दुबै रोमान्टिक सम्वन्धमा थिए भन्ने स्वीकार गरेको छ ।

सैनिक अदालतले उनलाई सैनिक ‘कु’ मार्फत सत्ता उल्टाउने योजना बनाउएको भन्दै राज्यद्रोहको आरोपमा मृत्युदण्ड दिइएको हो ।
सैनिक अदालतले मृत्युदण्ड घोषणा गरेपछि उत्तर कोरियाका सरकारी सञ्चार माध्यमले उनलाई ‘गद्धार’ र ‘कुकुरभन्दा पनि निकृष्ट’ भन्ने आरोप लगाएका छन् ।
जङलाई कसरी मृत्युदण्ड दिइयो भन्ने प्रष्ट छैन । उत्तर कोरियामा गोली हानेर मृत्युदण्ड दिने प्रचलन छ ।
किम ‘डाइनास्टी’का पछिल्ला उत्तराधिकारी ३० वर्षीय किम जोङ–उनले सत्ता हानाथापमा आफ्ना फूपाजु जङलाई अघिल्लो हप्ता सेनाबाट बर्खास्त गरेका थिए ।
त्यसलगत्तै उनलाई सत्ताधारी वर्कश पार्टीको साधारण सदस्यबाट पनि हटाइएको थियो। जङ उत्तर कोरियाका संस्थापक नेता किम इल–सङका कान्छा ज्वाइँ हुन् । किम जङ –उनका पिता किम जङ–इलको १८ वर्षे कार्यकालमा जङले उत्तर कोरियाली सत्तामा दोस्रो प्रमुख व्यक्तिका रूपमा काम गरेका थिए । कलिलो उमेरमा नै सत्ताको उत्तराधिकारी बनेका किम जोङ–उनका अभिभावक थिए जङ ।
उत्तर कोरियामा सत्तारूढ परिवारका सदस्यलाई मृत्युदण्ड दिएको समाचार बाहिर आएको यो नै पहिलो घटना हो ।
योभन्दा अगाडिका सत्ता बिरोधी र सत्ता विप्लपका घटनालाई गुपचुप राख्ने गरिन्थ्यो । जङको सत्ता पतनका दृश्यले भने सरकारी टेलिभिजनमा नै स्थान पाए । उनलाई पार्टीले बर्खास्त गरेपछि पार्टीको बैठकबाट सेनाले घोक्राउदै बाहिर निकालेको दृश्य सरकारी टिभीले प्रसारीत गर्यो ।
सैनिक अदालतमा बयानका बेला जङलाई हतकडी लगाएको दृश्य पनि प्रसारित गरिएको थियो । बयानका समयमा उनलाई पाखुरामा दुई सैनिकले समातेका र पछाडिबाट तेस्रोले घिच्चुकमा ठेलेर टाउको निहुरियाएको अवस्थामा देखाइएको थियो।

मंलगवार उरुग्वेको संसदले नागरिकहरुलाई कानुनी रुपमा गाँजाको उत्पादन र बिक्रीको अधिकार दिएको हो।
संसदले जारी गरेको कानुनमा प्रत्येक व्यक्तिले सरकारबाट अनुमति प्राप्त पसलबाट प्रत्येक हप्ता ४० ग्राजा किन्न पाउने नियम छ ।
त्यसै गरि १८ वर्ष पुगेको व्यक्तिले प्रति व्यक्ति ६ वटा गाँजाको बोट रोप्न पाउनेछ। तर सरकारसंग अनुमति भने लिनु पर्नेछ ।
यो निर्णय संगै उरुग्वे गाँजाको उत्पादन र विक्री गर्ने पाउने पहिलो देश बनेको छ।
यस अघि गाँजा विरोधी अभियानमा सफलता प्राप्त नभएपछी सरकारले यस्तो कदम चालेको हो।
यसले गर्दा त्यहाँ रहेका ६ जना अन्तरिक्षा यात्रीको जीवन खतरामा परेको बताइएको छ । तर, नासाले भने अहिलेसम्म उनीहरुको अवस्था सामान्य रहेको र उनीहरू सुरक्षित रहेको बताएका छन् । नासाका अनुसार यो समस्यालाई समाधान गर्नका लागि आपतकालिन स्पेस वाकको आवश्यकता पर्न सक्छ अर्थात् अन्तरिक्ष यात्रीहरू अन्तरिक्ष यानबाट बाहिर निस्केर स्पेस स्टेशनको कुलिङ सिस्टमलाई बनाउनुपर्ने हुन्छ ।
अन्तरिक्ष स्टेशनमा यो वर्ष भएको यो दोस्रो घटना हो । योभन्दा अगाडि पनि ९ मेमा पनि कुलिङ सिस्टममा समस्या आएको थियो । अहिले उक्त अन्तरिक्ष यानमा दुई अमेरिकी, तीन रूसी र एक जापानी नागरिक रहेका छन् ।
नासाले अहिलेसम्म पनि के कारणले अन्तरिक्षमा उक्त समस्या आएको भन्ने जानकारि दिन सकेको छैन् । अन्तरिक्ष स्टेशनलाई चिसो बनाइराख्न कुलिङ सिस्टमको प्रयोग अनिवार्य हुन्छ । सूर्यबाट आउने तापका कारण स्टेशनमा गर्मी पैदा हुने हुँदा त्यसलाई चिसो बनाउनु आवश्यक हुन्छ ।

राजस्थानको विधानसभामा भारतीय जनता पार्टीले १ सय ६२ सिट जितेपछि राजस्थानको कमान बसन्धुरा राजेसिन्धायाको हातमा पुगेको हो । कांग्रेस २१ सिटमा खुम्चिएको छ ।
भाजपाकी प्रदेशाध्यक्ष बसुन्धरा २००३ देखि ८ सम्म पनि मुख्यमन्त्री थिइन् । बसुन्धरा धौलपुरको पूर्व राज परिवारकी सदस्य हुन् । बिजयराजे सिन्धियाका पाँच सन्तानमध्ये माइली उषाराजे सिन्धिया राणाकी पत्नी हुन भने बसुन्धरा काइँली हुन् ।
राणाकी छोरी देवयानीको दरवार हत्याकाण्डमा दीपेन्द्रसँग नाम जोडिएको थियो । देवयानीको बिबाह पनि भारतमै भएको छ ।
राजस्थानमा भाजपाका नम्बर वान नेता बसुन्धरा राजे ५ पटकसम्म लोकसभा सांसद भइसकेकी छिन् । उनका अन्य दिदी बहिनीहरु पनि भारतीय राजनीति सक्रिय र प्रभावशाली छन् ।
प्रहरीका अनुसार २२ वर्षीय एलीट बारबरमाथि ४२ वर्षीय ट्राय ला फेरेराको हत्याको आरोप लागेको छ । गत ११ नोभेम्बरमा भएको हत्याको आरोप एलीटीकी १८ वर्षीया पत्नी मिरान्डालाई लागेको छ । उनीहरु दुबै बर्न-किलर भएको प्रहरीको आशंका छ ।
एलीट बारबर र मिरान्डा नर्थकेरोलिनामा विवाह गरेर पेलसेल्भिनिया आएका थिए । प्रहरीका अनुसार एलीटले एक अपरिचत व्यक्तिको हत्या गर्न विचित्रको योजना बनाएको स्वीकार गरेका छन् । उनका अनुसार उनको र पत्नी मिरिन्डाको ठूलो इच्छा थियो कि दुबै जना मिलेर कुनै अपरिचित व्यक्ति हत्या गर्ने ।
विवाह गरेको तीन सातापछि एलीट र मिरान्डाले ११ नोभेम्बरमा फेरेरालाई एक पार्किङमा सेक्सको बहानामा बोलाए । फेरेरा आएपछि पति पत्नीले मिलेर हत्या गरेको प्रहरीको आरोप छ । प्रहरीलाई दिएको बयानमा एलीटले भनेका छन्-’म आफ्नो पत्नीको रातो रंगको होन्डा सीआरवीको पछाडिको सिटमा कम्बल ओढेर बसेको थिए । जब फेरेरा पूर्वसहमति अनुसार मेरो पत्नीलाई भेट्न आए ।
उनले मलाई इशारा गरिन् । लगतै मैले उनको गर्धनमा मुड्कीले हानेँ । मैले उनको घाँटीमा केबल तार बेर्न थालेँ, त्यसपछि मिरान्डाले फेरेराको शरीरमा चक्कु हानिन् ।’ प्रहरीका अनुसार फेरेराको शरिरमा २२ पटक चक्कु प्रहार भएको थियो ।

SANBURY, PA - A couple married for just three weeks lured a man to his death with a Craigslist ad because they wanted to kill someone together, police said.
Elytte Barbour told officers before his arrest Friday night that he and his wife, Miranda, had planned to kill before, but their plans never worked out until last month when Troy LaFerrara responded to an online posting that promised companionship in return for money, authorities said.
Elytte Barbour, 22, and Miranda Barbour, 18, face criminal homicide charges in LaFerrara's death. His body was found Nov. 12 in an alley in Sunbury, a small city about 100 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The couple had recently moved to nearby Selinsgrove from North Carolina.
According to Sunbury police, Elytte Barbour told investigators he hid in the backseat of the couple's SUV as his wife picked up LaFerrara at a mall Nov. 11. He told police that, on his wife's signal, he wrapped a cord around LaFerrara's neck, restraining him while Miranda Barbour stabbed him.
The 42-year-old Port Trevorton man was stabbed 20 times, police said.
Miranda Barbour was charged Wednesday. She initially denied knowing LaFerrara, but her story evolved as investigators gathered evidence, including the discovery that the last call received by the victim's cellphone was made from her number, according to a police affidavit.
The affidavit said Miranda Barbour acknowledged meeting the victim in Selinsgrove and driving with him to Sunbury, where they parked. She said LaFerrara groped her and she took a knife from between the front seats and stabbed him after he put his hand around her throat, according to the affidavit.
Police said Miranda Barbour had told them she purchased cleaning supplies at a department store after stabbing LaFerrara, then picked up her husband and took him to a strip club for his birthday. On Friday, police said, Elytte Barbour told them he was the one who had purchased the cleaning products, an account investigators said was backed up by surveillance footage.
Following his wife's arrest, Elytte Barbour told The Daily Item of Sunbury that Miranda Barbour, whom he married Oct. 22, regularly hired herself out as a "companion" to men she met on various websites, a business venture he said he supported because it didn't involve sexual contact.
Barbour said his wife made anywhere from $50 to $850 by meeting with men for such activities as having dinner together or walking around a mall. The ads she placed on websites including Craigslist all said upfront that sex was not part of the deal, he said.
"She is not a prostitute," he said. "What she does is meet men who have broken marriages or have no one in their lives, and she meets with them and has delightful conversation."
Elytte Barbour didn't have an attorney at his arraignment Friday night. A phone message left for his wife's public defender early Saturday was not immediately returned.
Sunbury police Chief Steve Mazzeo told The Daily Item that investigators will also be looking into the death of a man with whom Miranda Barbour had a 1-year-old child. He would not elaborate.

After result trends showed a clear end to the Congress rule, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit conceded defeat and submitted her resignation to Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung.
"I would like to thank everyone for their support. We will analyze what went wrong later," a sombre-looking Dikshit told reporters outside her house while declining to take questions.
Dikshit, 75, herself trailed behind AAP founder-leader Arvind Kejriwal in the prestigious New Delhi constituency. Kejriwal, who had claimed that he would defeat the three-time chief minister, was way ahead with over 40,000 votes.
In fact, three cabinet ministers are trailing.
While the BJP was leading in 33 constituencies, the AAP was ahead in 27 seats and the Congress in 7.
It was however the phenomenal success of AAP, which came into existence as a political party only last year, that surprised both the ruling Congress and the BJP.
The BJP admitted on Sunday that the AAP's stunning performance in Delhi elections was "surprising" but maintained that it would form a government.
"We always thought of AAP as competition and we were expecting it to get double digit seats, but this is surprising," BJP state president Vijay Goel told the media.
"We have done all the hard work in Delhi (as an opposition) in the last 15 years but now AAP is reaping the benefits," he added.
The Congress, which has governed Delhi since 1998 with Dikshit at its helm, was stunned. Some supporters, who were still hopeful despite trends showing a Congress drubbing held prayers at Dikshit's residence for a miracle. Some even brought sweets in the morning, but were shooed away.
Congress leader Rajiv Shukla said: "AAP cut on our votes and caused damage. A lot of votes have gone to AAP, that is why we are losing in Delhi."
However, he quickly added: "These results have no bearing on the Lok Sabha elections."
Party sources and election officials said that Congress candidates were headed for defeat even in known party strongholds.
While there was an atmosphere of gloom at Dikshit's 3, Moti Lal Nehru residence, it was time for celebrations at BJP chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan's residence.
Supporters burst firecrackers and distributed sweets outside Vardhan's Krishna Nagar residence in east Delhi. The BJP leader stayed glued to his television set while talking to party workers.
The activists of AAP, a product of the anti-corruption campaign of Anna Hazare, also celebrated noisily outside many counting centres and its party office in Connaught Place.
The party activists, very visible in their white side caps, waved flags, raised slogans across the national capital celebrating the unexpected success.
Many of them waved spiky brooms, their party symbol, in the air to express their joy and happiness.
A leading light of the AAP, Shazia Ilmi, told the media: "We always spoke about real issues. Now people are responding to it."
Anna Hazare, once a mentor of Kejriwal who fell out with him over the latter's political ambitions, also praised Kejriwal.
"Defeating Sheila Dikshit is not an easy thing. People gave their mandate," he said.
"I believe that Arvind Kejriwal will do good work in the opposition and will provide right direction to the government," he told reporters from Ralegan Siddhi, his home town in Maharashtra.
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah was also keeping an eye on the Delhi assembly elections and praised the stunning debut of AAP.
"Never underestimate the underdog/newcomer with a fresh face and message," he posted.

Texas: In a shocking revelation, a female US soldier has claimed that she made $400 a night at Fort Hood sex parties after she was recruited as part of a prostitution circle at the Texas base.
According to Daily Mail, “The allegations were made in documents relating to court-martial in which a sergeant is accused of attempting to use the service. Master Sergeant Brad Grimes was in military court this week, accused of participating in the prostitution ring set up by another sergeant who has not yet been charged. The allegations are the latest in a series of claims about sexual harassment and sex-related crimes in the forces. Grimes, a married serviceman who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was found guilty of conspiracy to pay for sex from a Fort Hood private. He was allegedly approached by Sergeant 1st Class Gregory McQueen who offered to arrange a tryst with a young soldier. McQueen, who served as the sexual assault prevention officer, is currently being investigated over claims that he recruited cash-strapped female soldiers for sex parties at the base.”
Daily Mail said, “The defense attorney for Grimes said there had been no talk of exchanging money for sex and added that his client decided not to go ahead with the meeting, after it was set up at a hotel. 'At the end of the day, Master Sgt Grimes chose to do the right thing and not have sex with that young lady,' Daniel Conway said. 'This is really a case about sex parties and Master Sgt Grimes had nothing to do with that.' A man jailed for bestiality has come face to face in court with the goat he 'defiled'.
Katana Kitsao Gona was found guilty of sexually penetrating the goat in the Kenyan town of Malindi.
The 28-year-old was sentenced to 10 years' prison after the animal was brought into court and presented to the magistrate.
The nanny goat 'watched quietly from the corner of the courtroom' as her attacker was jailed, according to the Mail Online .

The court heard Gona was caught when a local resident found him naked in a field having sex with the grazing goat, which was tied up, The Star reported.
Others, including the goats owner, also witnessed the sordid incident when they arrived at the scene a short time later.
They alerted police who arrested Gona.
A medical examination of the animal confirmed it had been sexually abused.

Panaji: Tarun Tejpal, the founder of Tehelka, has been sent to police custody for six days by a Goa Sessions court.
Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Shama Joshi passed the order for Mr Tejpal's remand on a plea by the police, which had brought the Tehelka founder to court before noon today.
Public prosecutor Frances Tavera sought police custody of Mr Tejpal saying his custodial interrogation was needed because of the nature of the crime involved. However, Mr Tejpal's lawyers opposed the demand for police custody saying he was cooperating with the Crime Branch.
Mr Tejpal was arrested on charges of raping a junior colleague yesterday after the court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. Mr Tejpal was arrested from the Goa crime branch office in Dona Paula shortly after 9 pm, where he had been camping for almost five hours.
"The statement of the victim and the documents in the form of emails etc., details of which need not be reproduced here, prima facie indicate that the applicant, who was her mentor and father figure, had not only outraged her modesty but had misused his position, betrayed her trust and violated her body," Judge Anuja Prabhudesai had observed in her 25-page order. Mr Tejpal is accused of raping the reporter at an annual Tehelka conference in Goa earlier this month. She did not press charges, but detailed her allegations against him to her boss at Tehelka, Shoma Chaudhury, in an email that was leaked. She resigned last week.
MAPUTO, Dec 1 (Xinhua) — A Brazil-made brand-new Mozambique Airlines passenger aircraft crashed into remote lush forests in northern Namibia, killing 27 passengers and 6 crew on board, authorities of the both countries confirmed Saturday.
The toll is slightly different from the information given by Namibian investigators, who said there were 34 people on board the plane when it crashed on Friday afternoon and that there was no sign of survivors.
In a bulletin, state-owned Mozambique Airlines (LAM) said it confirmed the “tragic loss” of flight TM470 with “great sadness and regret”. But it did not have any information on the circumstances how the Embraer-190 jet en route to Luanda crashed. It left Maputo at 0926 GMT and was scheduled to arrive at the Angolan capital at 1310 GMT.
According to LAM, the aircraft, designed to carry maximum 93 people, was manufactured in 2012 and went into service only on Nov. 17, 2012. A team from the manufacture Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S.A. will assist in determine the cause of the crash.
Mozambique’s Minister of Transportation and Communications Gabriel Muthisse told a Saturday press conference in Maputo that sources from the Botswana side heard the explosion and saw thick smoke rising from a national park in Namibia’s Zambezi region at about 3 p.m. local time Friday. Namibian Air Forces immediately dispatched a search team into the remote jungle battling heavy rain and only managed to find the wreckage Saturday.
“Today we got the information that the plane crashed , no survivors ,” the minister said.
He said a trans-national commission has been set up to probe the cause and is expected to submit its report within 30 days according to the rules of International Civil Aviation Organization.
The minister also said the government had decided to declare national mourning soon.
“In the name of the government of Mozambique we want to express our condolences to the affected families for this sad incident,” he said.
According to the initial passenger information released by the airline, the victims include a Chinese national, a French, a Brazilian, five Portuguese, nine Angolans and 10 Mozambicans. Families of some passengers waited hours at Maputo International Airport Saturday only to learn the sad ending.
“We contacted them soon after hearing the information but we were told to wait because there is still no confirmation. The whole family now is devastated,” said Jose Luis who lost four relatives in the crash.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Li Chunhua told Xinhua that the Chinese victim was a 30-year-old businessman who came from Angola to Mozambique recently for business opportunities with friends.
Li said the victims’ family in China had been informed.
The crash, though the first major accident since the inception of Mozambique Airlines in 1980, underscored the safety concerns cast over the state-own company by the European Union, which bans all aircraft of Mozambican airlines from flying into the European airspace.
Despite the ban, LAM has been able to expand its international routes — now to five African countries include South Africa, Tanzania, Angola, Zimbabwe and Kenya — and rebuild its reputation through improved service and attractively low fares.
For LAM’s Harare-Maputo route, for example, the airline offers 150 U. S. dollars for a return ticket before taxes.
LAM uses Brazilian-made aircraft for almost all of its regional flights.
The transport minister was quick to defend the state airline at Saturday’s press conference.
“I never heard nowhere indication that the aircraft of the Republic of Mozambique are not safe ,” said Muthisse. “There is much more developed countries that have also had accidents of this nature.”
Around the world, there are about a dozen major aviation accidents recorded this year. The worst crash wasSouth Korea‘s Asiana Airline, whose jumbo Boeing 777 aircraft undershot the runway on landing at San Francisco International Airport on July 6, killing more than 300 people on board.
Of late, a Lao Airlines’ ATR-72 aircraft crashed shortly before landing, killing all 49 people on board in October while a Tatarstan Airline’s Boeing 737 crashed in November in Kazan International Airport inRussia, killing 50 people.

While Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was seen as a party that can bring down corruption, the BJP is seen as a party that can control inflation and the Congress as one that can maintain law and order, said a survey on Wednesday.
BJP's Harsh Vardhan is the most preferred chief ministerial candidate, closely followed by Kejriwal, said the survey.
However, opinion is divided over the issue of safety of women.
While 47 per cent respondents said crime is increasing as Delhi Police is busy protecting VIPs, 40 per cent said absence of fear of law among people is the reason behind rise in criminal activities.
Almost one-third respondents felt poor policing is the most important reason behind spurt in crime cases against women.
The opinion poll was conducted with 6,340 respondents.
The survey said that the BJP may emerge as the single-largest party in Delhi assembly elections which are expected to throw up a hung house.
According to the opinion poll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to get around 32 seats in the 70-member house with a vote share of 33 per cent.
The Congress is expected to get 25 seats with 26 per cent vote share and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to get 10 seats with 23 per cent vote share, it said.
However, the survey said 15-20 seats, where the victory margin would be narrow (two percent), could impact the final poll outcome.
Noting price rise is the key factor working against the ruling Congress, the survey said people do recognise the work done by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over the past 15 years.
As many as 81 per cent respondents said soaring vegetable prices may prove to be the deciding factor in the elections.
