2 businessmen held with illegal IRs. 5 lakhs

RAUTAHAT: Police have rounded up two businesspersons in possession of banned Indian currency with denominations of IRs. 500 and IRs.1000 from Rautahat on Wednesday.

The detainees have been identified as Jeevan Dhami (30) of Chakhela VDC, Sunsari district and Gaurav Chapagain of Gothatar, KMC-7.

The suspects were heading towards Gaur from Bairganiya Bazaar of Sitamadi District when police arrested them with IRs. 5,00,000 during the regular security check, District Police Office, Rautahat informed.

As the notes of IRs. 500 and IRs, 1000 are banned in Nepal, it is regarded as illegal.

DSP Govinda Ram Pariyar said that they have taken both of them to the District Police Office for investigation.

“I am not aware that the notes of IRs. 500 are banned in the country,” Chapaign said.

DSP Pariyar said they are preparing to hand over both of them to the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI), Harihar Bhawan, Pulchok for investigation.
