Leaders of different underground armed groups were arrested after the District Police Office, Banke, mobilized special taskforce with an aim to disintegrate their networks.

The special security squad of Nepalgunj police arrested Jung Bahadur Wali (Sagar), Bardiya district in-charge of underground armed group "United Janatantrik Mukti Morcha", with weapons from Lalpur, Banke.

The police team led by inspector Prakash Malla arrested Wali for his alleged involvement in various criminal activities including lootings, kidnappings and extortion

The police also succeeded to arrest Zakir Hussein Jolaha a.k.a. and Suraj Singh, members of the same organization and within 24 hours Wali was arrested. The police team which had obtained information from Hussein in the custody about whereabouts of Wali was able to arrest him with a pistol.

Jolaha who was also engaged in criminal activities including arms smuggling and trade since one and half years was living in India after other members of his groups were arrested.

The police had earlier arrested five members of the group.

"The task force has been vigilant since three weeks to disintegrate networks of armed groups", said DSP Dinesh Amatya adding, "We are committed in wiping out these groups so that the people could live in a secure environment"

The police claimed that with the arrest of two of the district in charges, the group’s activities are completely contained.

The police confiscated eight pistols, mobile sets and SIM cards from the group which were used in threatening people for money. They also found a list of names of businessmen with the amount of money demanded by them. The list included most of the businessmen’s name of Nepalgunj.
