Jhalanath Khanal Seesk Reasons Behind his Defeat in Sarlahi-1

1 Dec-Kathmandu: Chairman of the CPN (UML), Jhala Nath Khanal, has issued directives to the local party organizations to find the facts behind his defeat in Sarlahi district Constituency No. 1 in the November 19 Constituent Assembly election, though there was strong party organization and wave of public support.

Former Prime Minister Khanal issued a press statement here on Saturday and asked the party’s Janakpur Zonal Coordination Committee, District Committee, Sarlahi, and concerned area committees to find the facts leading to the party’s defeat from the Sarlahi Constituency No. 1.

UML Chairman Khanal said that though the party has strong public support in all 12 VDCs under the Constituency, it faced defeat with slight difference in the number of votes.

Khanal, who was elected from Ilam Constituency No. 1, was defeated by the Unified CPN (Maoist) candidate Shambhu Shrestha in Sarlahi district Constituency No. 1.



UML Chairman Khanal assured that he and his party would not backtrack from the concept of integrated development of Sarlahi district. Khanal also thanked UML leaders, cadres, voters, and supporters.
